Can Bing Take Down Google?

A recent projection has shown Bing taking down the search engine giant Google as early as 2012!

In March, Bing acquired 30% of the search market, most of that market came directly from Google. Bing powered searches, which include search.yahoo.com and bing.com, have steadily been increasing over the past months while Google powered searches have had a slow but steady decline.

If both trends continue at the rate they are going, 2012 might be the date of Google’s removal of search engine dominance.

Currently Google is still clearly the leader, by more than 2 to 1 against Bing, but if you remember last fall Google was dominating 3 to 1. Bing has become the first search engine that Google has had to seriously contend with in a while.

What does this mean for you? Both search engine giants deliver results based on several factors. They both look for updated content on your webpages, meaningful title tags, meta descriptions and keywords, as well as links on other webpages out in the internet that point back to your own.

All these together are part of the tricky field of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO is still one of the best ways to ensure your website is ranked highly by both Google and Bing. As more and more companies are using seeing the benefits of SEO, the more important it is to have an SEO strategy in place for your business.
